On March 28th, Lee Hsien Loong, the Singapore Prime Minister, and his delegation visited Guangzhou SCA School. The management team and student representatives warmly received them, and introduced the history of SCA and the achievements of China-Singapore cooperation in elementary and secondary education.
After the visit to SCA, PM Lee said on the social media, "thank you to students and teachers for the warm welcome and introduction to your campus!", and recognized Singapore's education experience and pedagogy brought by SCA.
In the morning, the teachers and students of SCA held the national flags of the two countries in front of South Li Gate to warmly welcome PM Lee and his delegation.
When visiting the teaching building, teachers and students introduced the curriculum of SCA to PM Lee and his delegation in detail. Dr. Hon Chiew Weng, the Education Superintendent of SCA, introduced the group learning methods taken by teachers in Foundation English, so that students who are good at learning English can help others, which embodies the school spirit of "己立立人，己达达人". Hearing it, PM Lee highly recognized them.
PM Lee also walked into the classroom, communicated with teachers and students in person, and asked about the study and living of SCAers. He praised SCA for its scientific research methods for teaching activities, and said that these methods would be helpful for students to improve their critical and creative thinking in order to meet challenges in the future.
In the School Multipurpose Hall , the management team introduced to PM Lee and his delegation the history of the SCA since it signed the contract at the Guangdong-Singapore Cooperation Council for the first time in 2016 and the achievements of SCA’s cultural development by introducing the boards of "SCA Milestone" and "To Youth: A Glance of SCA". Later, PM Lee wrote down the words to the teachers and students that it takes ten years to nurture a tree, but a hundred years to train a man, wishing teachers & students of SCA every success.
At the end of the visit, PM Lee and his delegation expressed their gratitude for the warm reception of the teachers and students of SCA, recognized the achievements of China-Singapore cooperation in elementary and secondary education at SCA, praised the student representatives who fluently introduced the school in bilingual, and took a photo with the teachers and students.
